41380kj, it felt like more when I was shopping

Compared to last shop, I came in more than a full day under. This is a surprise, as I was doing a rough tally as I went (counting by days) and thought I was at approximately 7 days. Apparently I rounded everything up.

I was also a bit bored of shopping towards the end, and wanted to leave. I was also in a hurry because I was trying to keep away from the temptation of the local ramen place, which was open while I was shopping for a change.

So what I’m looking at here is I have a cheat meal up my sleeve this week if I want to go shopping next Saturday, and that ramen place is looking really tempting.

I’ll save that for later in the week though, since I’ve observed that on weekends and holidays, when I am left to my own devices, I don’t eat that much, while on work-days, something about work makes me want to stop and eat constantly.

This is the reason my office is so dangerous, as there are cookies in the kitchen where I can fulfill that desire frictionlessly. While working from home, I simply have to remind myself not to eat all of my day’s food at once, although this has the opposite problem of tending to skip lunch and eat a big dinner. This’s also why I am no longer filling my food draw with protein balls, as I did during the early CoVID-19 work-from-home period, as the pandemic well-and-truely outlasted my self-control there.

If I happen to be in the office this week, I can also go check out the Asian supermarket near by, and if nothing there grabs me, go to Coles and get some kangaroo sausages, which I can cook in the oven. My local Woolworths had kangaroo steak in-stock for a change, but I don’t currently own a frypan, and don’t know how to cook steak in the oven. And I’m too lazy to cook it, even if I did have a frypan.

I also have the option to go out and do a small midweek shop, and grab some more of those Fitness Outcomes meals. The ones I have here are use-by Wednesday, so I can’t actually buy a full week’s supply at a time, but if I eat one each day, then I can go buy three more and still have a smaller shop than last week’s.

Looking back on last week, the nakula coconut yogurt was a disappointment, so I skipped that. I also forgot to grab more eggs, and only one salad. The Soulara packaged meals were good, but the Fitness Outcomes meals have fewer kilojoules and I am assuming more protein, but I just realised I didn’t actually check that.

A pleasant surprise was the cereal. It turns out a bowl with 500ml of that almond and coconut milk, plus 25% of each of those boxes of cereal, is exactly the right balance, and a very filling breakfast. And fits well into the one bowl I own, which was a nice bonus. I’ll save those for later in the week too, again to try and suppress work-related munchies.

I also still have the ice cream (expected) and brussels sprouts (unexpected) unconsumed, which is slightly more than the carry-over kilojoules from that shopping trip, so my diet is apparently 100% on-plan.

  1. Good job! Impressive that you stuck to it and even had some left icecream left over – in awe of the willpower!

  2. Aldi Yoconut organic vanilla. Leave that Nakula crap on the shelf.

Works with paleo granola from Aldi or Red Tractor if you’re going low carb.
